There’s something quietly magical about a frosty morning in the Cotswolds, the air is sharp and still, the breath of winter hanging in the chill, and everywhere you look the landscape glitters as if the world itself has been dusted with diamonds.
For families visiting on vacation, the countryside offers space to slow down. Start by wrapping up in cozy knits, scarves, gloves, and bobble hats, then wander along quiet lanes, frosted fields, and riversides, noticing the small details that make winter feel alive.
Each one of my photoshoots is personalised to your family. We can head to one of my favorite countryside spots, or we can head to a picturesque Cotswold Village nearby - such as Bibury, Castle Combe, or Bourton-on-the-Water. Villages provide charm and context, while the countryside gives children room to roam and families the chance to move naturally and capture authentic moments together. And if we’re lucky - we might even be blessed with a sprinkling of snow!
To catch the frost, sessions start after breakfast, giving everyone time to wake gently while still making the most of the frost and soft winter light. Everything feels quieter, softer, and a little more sparkly. The landscape slows, and so do we, noticing the small details and being fully present together.
And of course, there’s always time for a steaming hot chocolate afterwards - the perfect way to warm up!
